AD9952 Powerdown

The datasheet lists only a full powerdown current of 27mW, but I suspect that that is only for the software powerdown mode.

Our application is a low duty cycle battery application, so we are in powerdown 99% of the time, but that's not much help if we still draw 27 mW.

Is there any difference between powering down the AD9952 with the POWERDWNCTRL pin, and powering it down via the SPI port?

Shouldn't powering down with the hardware pin reduce it to just leakage(i.e. a few microamps)?  Or do we have to depower the whole device to do get below the 27mW?

Thanks in advance,

Donny
