filter editor window button not shown

I'm just starting back on SigmaDSP. I picked the 'index selectable filter' GPIO project to get my feet wet. The example links and compiles but I don't get the red filter button on the schematic to enter the filter editor window:

I don't have an eval board yet to download the project too, is this required or am I missing a step on how to do this?

I'm running SigmaDSP v3.6.
