I'm using the ADAU1451 in an upcoming design and am picking out audio codecs to use alongside it. The SigmaDSP's serial audio ports theoretically support 8 or 16 channels each, but it seems like none of Analog's codecs ever send more than two channels (L/R) on one data line. The AD1938, for example, has 8 DACs but requires 4 separate serial ports! --and I'm running out of pins.
Are there any codecs available that make use of the additional channels in the serial port so that I can push data to a codec with many DACs using only one serial port?
Thank you for your help.
